There is a story on espn that Rick Pitinio is wanting to get the job with the Nets. Leaving Louisville while smarter than leaving Kentucky is still one of the stupidest things a coach could do. I mean for the Nets who have won 4 games for crying out loud. Of course Pitinio told Forde there was no truth to it. And we all know how close Rick and Pat are. Does this remind any one of what Ricks disciple Billy Donovan did in Florida?

I don’t have any idea if its true or not but any drama in Louisville makes the BigBlue Nation happy.

Pitino said he didn’t think his press wouldn’t work against the Cats. I thought his reference to backing off the press was a ploy. I was wrong and he was wrong. UL did not press like usual. And when they did, UK turned it over. I thought UL would need to shoot well and often from three range and neither happened.

Yet here UL was with a one point lead in the second half. Wall had thrown up the worst shot I’ve ever seen from him and made the worst pass I’d ever seen from him. No, the game plan was not to press or to rely on threes. The game plan was to fluster a young but talented team. The game plan was to take UK out of its game mentally. And up to the point of Walls worst shot and worst pass the game plan had worked on all but two players. Ironically, one of those players is the guy you would expect to lose it first and that guy is Cousins. Maybe this is just the type of game he LIKES to play in and that is actually great news for UK. UK hasn’t had a “Cousins” since Maglor roamed the paint. UK needed a “Maglor” yesterday and Cousins was happy to oblige. He had his moment. Many think he should have been ejected but he clearly did not throw a punch. I do not agree with the forearm he used but I also do not agree with how the UL players were attempting to push UK around either. Someone needed to even the slate. Someone needed to let UL know they would get as good as they gave. If you throw Cousins out, then three UL players should have been tossed as well. I think UL would have been content to lose one or two guys just to get into UK’s head. Getting Cousins out would have been a bonus.

The plan almost worked. Wall was not Wall and UK was not UK. But then the TV time out came and just in the nick of time. When UK came out of the time out and down one, Wall returned to being Wall and UK returned to being UK and there was nothing UL could do about it. The bone head passes went away, the three fell for Harris, Wall goes on a Wall run from everywhere and UL had no answer.

Coach will do the right thing, but I think its time for Harris to replace Miller in the starting lineup. It seems that every game Harris is one of the guys on the floor when it matters most except at the start.

Again we see that this team is built very well. They can kill you at their game and beat you at yours. I’ve always felt that one or two dimensional teams are suspect during a post season run and need a lot of luck to go far. Teams that can excel in any game situation does not need to rely on luck and this is one of those teams.

Hat’s off to the Cards for getting this game just where they wanted it. I though they got a major break with how the game was called. They needed it, and they still came up short.

15-0

Its a sad day here in Catland. We Kentucky fans feel that Coach Kragthorpe was fowlly treated by Tom Juric and the administration.

I mean Tom how can a man be expected to win games when the fans only fill a third of the newly enlarged stadium for a game. And Tom I mean come on now every one knows that a little sister is supposed to loose to a big brother.

Why fire Coach Krag he was a leader by example, the kind of a guy who would never embarrass the school by having late eytalian dinners. No all he ever did was lose so which is worse Tom.

He couldn’t help it that the offense was so bad that it was only out stunk by the defense Tom. Some years are just that way.

We here in Catland which if you haven’t noticed Tom includes Louisville are really concerned that you have made a mistake. No longer will we get to watch our little sister try to date a bowl team or try out for the ACC. Instead we will have to watch little sister trying to get another coach come in and help put makeup on her fading football program. Tom, Charlie Weiss might soon be available and he does wonders for a girls image.

Coach Kraq you will be sadly missed by us here in Catland. Thanks for the happy memories.

A team is never as good as it looks or as bad as it looks. This is a quote from a very wise coach. What is the coach’s name? Rich Brooks; and I think it applies in a major way to both UK and UL. UK, in the UL matchup, looked exactly like UL did in their opener. The very first play from scrimmage was a very good sign of things to come. UL’s Anderson takes the ball to the right, and the entire UK team follows him. The only UK defenders that maintained their assignments were the ones that were suppose to be on the left side of the D. Anderson cuts back with all the room in the world. UK did a must better job of staying in assignments two weeks before. And so began a long list of missed assignments, horrid penalties, bloops and blunders. UK’s two most thought of defenders were the leaders of pack. Johnson, on several occasions, over pursues, face masked twice and generally contributed to at least 100 positive yards for the Cards all by himself with 30 of them coming on penalties. Lindley was beat several times and should thank Burke for either not seeing a few of them or for missing his target. Even still, he looked average at best. The major problem is with the pass rush. UK just does not have one yet. There are signs that Evans can become the man but he’ll need to turn it up a few more notches and get lots of help. UL picked up several blitz attempts and made UK pay so I don’t think that is the answer. Johnson is a little better in pass coverage this year but he will never be the all round option that Woodyard was/is. Because of this, UK must be very careful with its blitzing. The answer is to simply up the play across the D line and even then it would be adequate at best.

It was quite obvious that the only team that could stop UK’s offense was in blue. I must give UL credit for creating the turnovers. That is the exact same thing UK USED to have to do when they were woefully outmanned by an offense. A quick note to the UK defense would be to watch the UL game eight or nine times to bone up on what they should to do the next few weeks. Hartline is doing what people wanted him to do last year, and that is to take a few more changes. He is putting the ball in tighter coverage and will have some interceptions in doing so. Because of that, I can’t fault him for the interception. People say he stared down the receiver, but he went to his first read, it was actually a great throw, and the defender outplayed the receiver. So when you really think about it, his receiver let him down and he was a little more cautions the next series, which is something no one should want. The fumble was an entirely different story. All in all, he was about what I thought he was compared to last year. He’s a little stronger, a little quicker, a little more accurate and a little wiser. And he need much more help than he got yesterday.

But there is a silver lining and a BUNCH of good stuff to take from this game. UK’s offensive line dominated the game. UL was not able to even touch Hartline unless he ran. They created the seams needed to run anywhere the play was called and had zero holds that I remember. The only one called was on Cobb and that was a block in the back where the guy turned around in front of him (which isn’t supposed to be called). Locke did whatever he wanted, Cobb is Cobb and Conner will be a weapon. But the part is the silver lining: UL probably wanted it more but UK is the team that actually did what it took to win the game. With all the mistakes, they still managed to make the right plays at the right time which is a drastic change from the years of finding a way to lose. A team will not always play its best ball. A winner finds a way to win even when things are not going as planned and UK did just that. UL, for all of the hustle, pride, guts and sweat, came away empty. Their fans may feel a little better about their team, but at this point they are the team that is finding a way to lose. The legacy of this UK team will not be defined in its first game or the UL game but both should serve as valuable learning experiences and there are probably more positives to learn from the UL game than the opener.

The sporting news is full of the Pitino-Sypher encounter. Encounter meaning he nailed her in a frigging restaurant probably next to the meat grinder in the kitchen. Heres a few of the things being said.

http://blogs.ajc.com/mark-bradley-blog/2009/08/12/the-pitino-affair-sex-in-a-restaurant-a-job-in-jeopardy/
Think of it this way: The enthusiasm for and scrutiny of basketball in Kentucky can be likened to the fervor for football in Alabama. And wasn’t Mike Price dumped as head coach by the Crimson Tide before coaching a game after reports surfaced that he’d had sex with a stripper in Pensacola, Fla.?

Price denies to this day such an encounter took place. (He settled a lawsuit with Sports Illustrated, which had reported the alleged assignation, out of court.) Pitino has admitted to having sex with Sypher and giving her $3,000. (Though his lawyer claims the money was for her to buy health insurance, not to have an abortion.)

There aren’t a lot of historical touchstones here, especially for college. The Patriots never considered firing Bill Belichick when his name popped up in as the “other man” in a bitter New Jersey divorce case.

Instead of looking for heroes on television or in arenas, we should be looking for heroes in our everyday lives. Because our everyday lives are filled with people we love, and who love us. Our everyday lives are filled with people who love us in spite of our quirks and short-comings; who love us even when we are unlovable. The father who plays catch with his son, the mother who teaches her daughter the art of cooking, the grandfather who takes his grandchildren fishing, the grandmother who reads tales of dogs and cats to her grandkids. These are the true heroes. Not some ballplayer who can hit better than most, or a coach who wins more often than not.

We are hearing words of sympathy for Coach Pitino, his wife, Joanne, and his family. And we should. But our hearts must ache for Joanne Pitino who joins the ranks of wives and mothers tarnished by adultery.

The story of adultery is becoming all too common — an indiscreet move on the part of their husbands’ leaves the families vulnerable. In the world of politics it was Elizabeth Edwards and more recently Jenny Sanford. Love and marriage gone awry.

http://www.east-coast-bias.com/2009/08/extortion-is-easier-than-being-groupie.html
This is getting ridiculous. What ever happened to the good old days when a groupie would carry Shawn Kemp’s Travis Henry’s the father’s child to term and THEN extort child support from him? Rape is a serious crime and I try not to base any judgments based on pieces of news reports, but between Pitino and Roethlisberger, this is getting ridiculous.

In case no one noticed. Rick Pitino is Slick, not Bill Clinton smooth, but incredibly slippery nonetheless.

Married man + High Stress Job + Temptation = No moral Backbone.

The comments that are being posted on blogs put all this mainstream reporting to shame. Some of them deserve a Nobel Prize for creative writing.

“Kentucky’s a part of the country where this is a BIG deal to many people”
Easy, chief, the dude coaches in Louisville, not Pulaski County.
I do suppose this means that Pitino can’t wear white anymore.

Papal agenda, Wednesday, April 12, 2009:
1. Excommunicate Richard Pitino (multiple infractions of conduct clause)
2. Place Karen Sypher on 15-year penance list (whore)
3. Clarify papal decree on restaurant floor sex
4. Tune in to the Dan Patrick Show

Can anyone say “….and providing the commentary for tonight’s matchup here on TNT between the Warriors and the Heat, Coach Rick Pitino!”

So, Marvin Stone transfered before this? Man, the evil this man did during the 2003 era is off the charts…who knows what else this man has done?!

I know that Fr. Bradley pays for hotel rooms for players…I wonder what else is hidden under Rick’s rocks???

Rupp Arena should take the seats behind the other goal and call it the “Erection Zone” and have Karen Sypher present in that area during the UK/Loserville game.

An ode to Pitiner

When he was coach at Kentucky
He was king of the world
His adultery much more secretive
With much hotter girls
His teams were set for Glory
As coach rebuilt the team
Destined to be on top forever
At least that’s how it seemed
Then he left for Boston
He had something else to prove
Once he got to beantown
Pitino lost his grove
The girls were not quite as hot
His teams just could not play
He traded in Ashley Judd
For his ho of the day
So as the controversy thickens
And Vinnie is still on the floor
Will U of L be strong
Or will Pitino get the door
Once a king of the bluegrass
Know known as Richard Pitiner
The bluegrass waits for an answer
From the man who plays too much with his Weiner.

Regarding Pitino, he once again didn’t cover the one inbounding the ball…so to speak.

Two lessons to be learned in Rick Pitino situation: Wrap it up and Take it to go.

Quick — the restaurant table ricky had sex is now up for auction on ebay —— Word is out that the U of L alumni association is pooling their funds in an attempt to purchase the table and have it mounted under the speakers at freedom hall.

Sypher or a stripper I got to think about this for a while. I thought about this for a while and said self can I have both. Self answered nope so I take the stripper. Coaching in El Paso can’t be that bad can it.
