Expansion A Done Deal

BigBlueRules has learned from sources that Texas A&M is already in the SEC. According to an unnamed janitor from RFS.
Fearing the university would never receive enough votes to secure an invitation to join the conference, Texas A&M allegedly sent a team of covert operatives under the cover of night to break into the SEC’s Birmingham offices and take the necessary steps to ensure the school became the league’s 13th member.
When contacted by BigBlueRules unnamed sources at the SEC had only this to say.
Not much we can do now, but prevent this type of thing from occurring in the future. You’d think we’d have learned our lesson when Vanderbilt joined under similar circumstances in 1932 when they snuck into the first ever SEC meeting and become one of the conference’s charter members.
You can find the story as first reported here at RFS
I couldn’t pass on posting this just because of the Vandy line.
Crow Pie A&M Style

Both my fingers are flying trying to typing this out to beat everyone to the story. Don’t laugh it actually happened once last year. Now on with the story. The SEC voted to not extend an invitation to Texas A&M, for the time being anyway. Hardly a surprise to anyone since there would be an imbalance between the east and west.
Texas A&M painted their self into a corner with this one. Or did they? This could have simply been Texas politics at its dirtiest. Put some pressure on Texas, grab a few dollars from wealthy supporters, give yourself time to shift a few votes in the legislature and bolt when the time is right. Bolt they will since they have left themselves with nothing to do but bolt or eat crow pie.
Got to give the SEC credit for voting against this. After all they need us way more than we need them.
A&M to the SEC

Is it starting to heat up again in Texas. Some like Mr SEC are saying that A&M is getting serious about coming to the SEC. Read link here.
So do we want A&M and say Oklahoma in the SEC?

From a conference view I think yes but from a Kentucky view I say no. No reason to fear them in basketball but do we really need two more teams to kick us around in football?
One positive I can think of is that it will open Texas up for more recruiting and we might get some players from Texas. Some from our normal recruiting areas that the big SEC guys decide to pass on for a Texas player.
Another positive is more money from a new TV contract.
One negative is the fact that then there will be 14 teams scrambling for bowls and frankly is the 12th or 13th ranked SEC team going to make a bowl.
Tressel and the 5 amigos ground OSU

There is some interesting things going on today. First Ohio St has put themselves on two years probation and vacated their 2010 wins. They are obviously trying to do the right thing but it would have looked better if they hadn’t played the 5 players in last years bowl win. As a football fan I don’t agree with the probation part the proper word to use is parole.
CBS also has a 5 part story on cheating in football. The first 2 parts are out.
Smells like Bama fish er cover up

Wheres the NY Times when you need them. This story reeks of tutors writing papers, drugs, dog stealing ex-girlfriends, Auburn loggers, drugs, agents passing money under the table at BBQ shacks, drugs, fishing trips with boosters, coach Calipari because everyone knows he is dirty, drugs, Jerry Tipton pulitzer prize story’s, cheating girlfriends, Jerry Tipton doing drugs while tailing Patrick Patterson or even a cover up.
Here is the story as its now updated. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2011/06/tide_rb_trent_richardson_a_vic.html
The interesting part is that the Tuscaloosa Police Department said the case was closed and no further details would be released. Its summertime and sports news is rare so there is no way this story is going to stay covered up even if your stolen dog buried it.
Stay tuned for a hard hitting fast breaking story by Pat Forde about the ties between Bama and the Tuscaloosa PD. Followed by a fluffy piece by Pete Thamel and a cut and paste by the LHL’s private eye sports writer Jerry Tipton.
In all seriousness though if it smells like cover up and tastes like cover up it sure ain’t fish.
Your Busted Cup II

Spring football is almost over and many young SEC football players thoughts turn to mischief, so its time to start our second Your Busted Cup.

When a SEC football team gets a player arrested or suspended and you see it post the teams name and the players name on the topic in the forums and that team will get 1 point. If a player gets kicked off the team or suspended for unspecified reasons without being arrested the team gets 2 points and if he is arrested and suspended or kicked of the team the team gets 3 points.
We will announce the winning team when the season is over and possibly someone will unseat last years winner Georgia.

No Longer

This was the loss that broke this fans back, shook up his beer, stole his girl friend, scratched his truck, used the last of his toilet paper and kicked sand in his face. I could go on and on and on with this but I have a simpler solution. I give up. Yes I give up. No longer will I
Get up at 4:30 am so I can imaginary tail gate with my brother and sister Cat fans before that great 12:21 SEC game of the week.
No longer will I believe in catchy phrases rather than on field improvement.
No longer will I expect a 5* player to want to play in Kentucky.
No longer put up with wins over Kumquat U.
No longer will I think 6-6 is worthy of a bowl game after beating that fruit salad of teams.
As a mater of fact no longer will I eat fruit. From now on its meat and potatoes and wins.
No longer will I accept an AD who would rather be in Kansas.
No longer will I accept being the kicking dog of the SEC.
No longer will I put up with one good win every few years.
No longer will I watch coaches try not to loose because they cant think fast enough to win.
No longer will I forgive coaches for putting off what they know has to be done.
No longer will I get more excitement watching my second favorite team win.
No longer will I cling to hope game after game only to suffer the inevitable let down that Tennessee gives us.
No longer will I allow mediocrity to be the normal.
At least till next September when I start believing again. Lord its tough being a Kentucky football fan.
Protest 26

Thanks for the great year Randall I only wish you and the other player’s had some coaches that wanted to play to win rather than play not to loose.
Its going to be sad to see you go to the NFL but you deserve better than to return next and possibly get hurt on a play that even a fan 5,000 miles away knows is going to be called.
Your on the field and we fans aren’t so we don’t have the same perspective you players have and you can’t protest because you will be considered ungrateful. So this protest is for you.
This is my protest for the fans for what I consider a lousy coaching job. I know, I know you play with what you have but you also coach and look for an edge with what you have. When you play in the SEC and your slightly under maned you have to have coaches on both sides of the ball that are creative and can spell edge.
Joker why do Boise players tackle better when Boise doesn’t recruit SEC players? Because they are coached better and have better offensive and defensive schemes. What you see with Boise isn’t what you get so they are hard to prepare for on both sides of the ball unlike Kentucky which is easy to prepare for. Your pro style offense looks pretty and scores ok but there are no surprises in it. Its what we have to do because we just aren’t going to get many 5* and 4* difference makers to compete without misdirection and surprise. Your defense looks just plain bad. I wish I could say something better but other than to say the object isn’t to get down in the first half and try to win in the second half.
After twelve games its obvious that there are several problems we can look forward to next year but mainly we can look forward to the same old problems as this year.
Question. How many of you didn’t have an idea of what we were going to call when we lined up?
Sorry its just my disgust showing.
Consider this my one man, million man march in protest of 26 straight.

I still think that teams in the bigger and stronger conferences should be given strength of schedule points over teams that have played only 1 ranked team all year.
