 Re: request to the BBN
Cat, best of luck on your surgery. You should be in great hands at Emory. My old Doc in Bowling Green was an Emory Med School grad and used to be on staff there. Assuming the Lord listens to me, you'll be in my prayers.

 Re: request to the BBN
Thanks, Bill. Foggie - I'll bet the Good Lord himself would not ignore you, my big blue friend.
Surgery went smoothly and I'm back at home, slept off the anesthesia (I think)... My husband baked a peach cobbler for me. Life is good.
The surgeon's technical skills were never in question and I'm with you, Foggie. Emory is a name-brand institution. He just had a hard time understanding that I wanted the least-invasive appropriate response. He mentioned a skin graft again today (NO!!). After the surgery was over, he told my husband that I didn't need a skin graft and should heal fine, on my own. I cannot change the bandage for 24 hours, really curious about what it looks like.
And, as I said, I think I am going to work tomorrow. May have to keep my leg propped up, but I have a sit-down job and can do that.
I appreciate the prayers and support. I am glad the surgery is over.

 Re: request to the BBN
Glad its over and everything went good. Its amazing how smooth surgery goes now isn't it. After they replaced my hip I was up walking the next day. The dead grey squirrel on my face was just a youngster when the picture was taken last year. And yes real men do wear tights lol

 Re: request to the BBN
love your photo, Bill. The anesthesiologist came in afterward and said "oh, you don't look like anything happened." Yeah, baby, now unwire me so I can go home!!
I've never in my life had to fight so hard for the least-invasive appropriate procedure, and I believe my PCP can take it from here.

 Re: request to the BBN
Hondo - I feel considerably more perky and I do intend to go to work in the a.m. Can't keep a good Cat down, as we all know. And of all ridiculous things, the artificial skin graft material was approved a/o Thursday, according to a letter I received today. This was the stuff that was denied and triggered the entire heated discussion, that I was told by the doctor's office was still denied a/o Friday. I could have had the graft without donor skin, which was a big concern. Either the med review company was covering their carcusses or I was given incorrect info from the doctor's office. Either way, Mammy Yokum will have a few more things to say. This is not the level of patient care I expect from a brand-name facility. Thanks for all the prayers and concern. I have felt all warm and fuzzy.

 Re: request to the BBN
We've sorta been in the same boat Cat. I've had 3 sinus surgeries and both shoulders, the second one a year ago. Ain't none of them fun for sure. I have some leftover bullets i can sent if you need to bite one. I hope your procedure goes smoothly and your recovery quick and less painful.

 Re: request to the BBN
Hey, Boondog. So far, so good, no bullets necessary but I'll take you up on it, if things change. I did go to work today, not ready for wind sprints, yet, had a short day, am back at home and very tired. I got my first look at my surgical repair this a.m. and it looks worse than a really bad floor burn, but no more than that. I think time and keeping it clean are the next tasks, and I can do both, praise God. My mother and my mother-in-law both had looks that would stop a charging bull at 40 paces, if anybody stepped out of line. When the doctor said, again, that a skin graft would heal faster, the CRNA had already started the first shot of IV-sedation and I'm a cheap date. He took a step backwards and I thought he was just heading for the OR. My husband said the look I gave him rocked him back on his heels and he was fleeing the scene. I said, "oooohhhhhhh, I gave him the M-MIL (mom-mother-in-law) look, didn't I?" Hubby said, "both barrels, and I nearly laughed out loud." I told him it was sheer reflex, as I really couldn't see straight. What I said to the doc was, "I've already TOLD you I'm not running for Miss Georgia this year."

I'm so glad to that all went well and you are in good spirits. Rest and do your therapy when appropriate so you can jump around during football season. If you're like me, I can't sit in one place during a game.

 Re: request to the BBN
Foggie - scream, yell, holler, jump around, race out on the deck and holler the score, you name it TC - thanks much I am more tired than anything, nothing hurts except inactivity. I forget that I have a touch of bronchitis-related asthma. Usually, my PCP gives me a cortisone dose pack that knocks down the inflammation, but this time she didn't want to do so b/c of the surgery. Finally hit me that I need to treat the asthma. Dawg. Surgery, bronchitis, bronchitis-related asthma, all the same week. Aunt Lou has already chided me to take it easy and I am. Church Sunday and nothing else until Monday. Oh, well, gotta shuffle some papers, but I can do that in my snuggies. a Have a great weekend, and stay cool, everybody.
