Rick leaving Louisville?????

There is a story on espn that Rick Pitinio is wanting to get the job with the Nets. Leaving Louisville while smarter than leaving Kentucky is still one of the stupidest things a coach could do. I mean for the Nets who have won 4 games for crying out loud. Of course Pitinio told Forde there was no truth to it. And we all know how close Rick and Pat are. Does this remind any one of what Ricks disciple Billy Donovan did in Florida?
I don’t have any idea if its true or not but any drama in Louisville makes the BigBlue Nation happy.
Knight Integrity

When Bobby Knight speaks, people listen. They listen in the same light as they rubber neck when passing a wreck. They don’t want to, but damn it, they have to because there’s just something about a wreck that makes you want to look. With Knight, you know there’s going to be a wreck. Let’s face it, everything he’s ever done, said or been a part of has turned into a wreck. Sure, he got IU where it mattered, but the cost was overwhelmingly not worth it in the big picture.
His rant this time: integrity and the moral fabric of NCAA basketball. He rightfully admits that he was a part of it, he knew it and he did it anyway. But he qualifies himself by saying that he was alone in actually making the student part of, “student athlete” actually relevant. Here’s what we know. Bobby knight has been delusional since the day he exited the womb or was hatched. Bobby Knight is a hot head. Mix those two together and its as lethal a combination as ammonia and bleach. We can’t really fault his integrity for that. You can be a delusional hot head, pull most of the stunts he pulled, and actually still have integrity. All you have to do is say, “my bad” and go on with life. But when you consider how he bullied, lied, cheated, pulled strings and bullied his way out of taking responsibility for those actions, we have a real case of pot meets kettle. Time and time again he did whatever it took to get out from underneath his messes. Most of the time it worked, sometimes it didn’t. All the while, the adoring fans of IU thought he could do no wrong. He could do no wrong until he didn’t win the games he used to win or take IU to the places he had in the past. At that point, Knight could do no right and had to go. THIS was the audience for THIS integrity speech. It’s more like Pot makes speech in front of kettle when you think about it.
The main aim of this latest rant was toward Calipari. A modern day coach using the system Knight helped create. Calipari isn’t the saint many UK fans think today. He wasn’t the integrity-less demon that most of those same UK fans thought he was when he was at Memphis, and this includes me. UK and its fans have their own integrity issues, but at least we aren’t making delusional speeches condemning it. The issue at hand is how someone from within the coaching ranks who should know much more than fans could be so delusionally wrong on a topic? What he doesn’t know Calipari has shown as much or more interest in making sure the Student is the key part of Student athlete as he ever was. Cal has never hit or shot anyone that I’ve heard of. Cal has never bullied his way out of trouble that I know of. From what I’ve read, Cal did the right thing with the Camby situation and the NCAA did what many consider to be the wrong thing with eh Memphis situation. At first I couldn’t, for the life of me, figure out why he would take shots at Calipari. Why would knight do this? Then it hit me! There is timing here, my friends. Take a look at what will happen very soon at UK. UK will hit a milestone no other program has reached and Calipari will be the coach that does it even though he only plays a minuscule part in it. I am certain that in Bobbie Knight’s delusional mind, HE has had a larger hand in it based on his losses to UK so he deserves more credit than Calipari.
This is how this man thinks! It’s ok to choke players and get away with it. It’s ok to shoot people and property with no recourse. It’s OK to verbally abuse people for not calling you Sr or Mr. Knight. All of this is OK if your name is Bobby Knight.
At this point Knight will take his little integrity rant, put it in his back pocket as being yet another OKism, and go back to making more money from the very thing he spoke out against. Now that is Knight Integrity at its finest.
Ol’ Roy and I don’t mean dog food

Roy Williams had a Presbyterian fan thrown out of a game Saturday night during a close 103-64 victory over Presbyterian. Apparently the little gym was real quiet when the Presbyterian fan yelled something like “You’re gonna miss it, Deon” while Deon Thompson was shooting free throws. Roy the media-titled guru of college basketball took offense and had the fan escorted out of the mosh pit thats named The Dean Smith Center.

Now I’m just guessing but if ol’ Roy the guru of basketball coaching had this fan thrown out for yelling while his player was shooting free throws then he might have just violated this fans civil rights of free speech and equal representation in the house that Dean built.
I’m hoping that this fan who as far as I can tell so far did nothing that the NC fans weren’t doing takes this to court where it might result in nothing or it could if taken to the end result in fans not being allowed to yell during free throws or wave things or behave like a fan does.
Way to go ol’ Roy you might have opened up a bag of dog food you cant finish. Its going to be fun to see how the media spins this or if they even bother.
The latest update has Yahoo calling ol’ Roy out on it.
The Boring Bowls

When I read something starting out with “Is it just me” the first thing that crosses my mind is yeah its probably just you buddy.
Having poked a little fun at one of my favorite lead in lines. Is it just me or is this going to be another bowl season where the incidental bowls are going to be a lot more fun to watch than the BCS bowls.
There was a small chance that we were going to get to see if a non BCS team was worthy of playing for the national championship. Instead we get a Texas team that hasn’t shown much against anyone but patsy’s. A team who lucked by a Nebraska team who’s offense has been lost in limbo all year. The only thing Texas playing Alabama is going to show is that Texas isn’t a championship team and Alabama is.
The major bowls look like this.
Orange Iowa vs. Georgia Tech
Sugar Florida vs. Cincinnati
Fiesta Boise State vs. TCU
Rose Ohio State vs. Oregon
Lets start with the Rose Bowl’s stance on Pac 10 vs Big 10. Going by that premises they shouldn’t be considered a major bowl anymore since the Big 10 reminds most fans of the MAC. Wouldn’t everyone rather see Oregon play Boise St. again rather than perennial flop Ohio St.
On to the Orange Bowl where people get to watch Iowa vs Georgia Tech. Wouldn’t it be more fun to watch Ga Tech vs Pittsburgh rather than another big boring team.
The Sugar Bowl at least has some exciting football possible with Cincinnati going against Florida.
That leaves me with the Fiesta Bowl where if it was up to me Texas would be playing. I’m one good team short of having someone to play TCU so I guess the team would have to be Penn St, Ohio St or Iowa so the big boring fans don’t feel to bad.
Wouldn’t a eight team playoff be more fun to watch than what looks to be a boring week of football.

Well we have almost completed another regular season, only a few games left that are not, Conference Championships. Which will make for a great coming weekend.
1 Alabama next Sat we will for sure know if #1 is Bama or Fla
2 Florida I am looking forward to this next game
3 Texas I wonder just how the Big-12 Championship game will turn out
4 TCU 12-0 for the first time in history
5 Cincinnati wonder if this coach is headed to ND
6 Boise St another undefeated season for the team with the blue tuff
7 Oregon could this be the best of the Pac-10
8 Ohio St. Big-10 Champs again, but who is in the Big-10
9 Iowa Big-10 Co-Champs WOW
10 Penn. St 3 teams from the Big 10 that don’t play anyone else
11 Va. Tech I think they could beat all 3 of the Big 10 teams ahead of them
12 LSU would probably be undefeated if in the Big-10 or Pac-10
13 Ore St could this be the best or second best in the Pac-10
14 Miami Fl look out ACC this team is slowly rebuilding
15 Georgia Tech Champs of ACC Div and lost to SEC East 3rd place team
16 Pittsburg not a lot to comment on
17 Oklahoma St are not even Champs of their own St.
18 BYU
19 USC most disappointed team out West I would figure.
20 Clemson the other ACC Champ that lost to the SEC East 5th place team. WOW
21 Houston I wonder when they will score 100
22 Cal
23 Nebraska Big 12 North Champs now looking at Texas next Saturday Goodbye
24 Stanford Big win over ND along with several other teams this year
25 W. Va.
I have been looking at these rankings this season, and really have figured out that they don’t mean much. The Big 10 has 3 team highly ranked and neither of them have won a game against a high ranked team other than the Big 10. The Pac-10 has several teams in the top 25, but how would they do against a middle of the pac SEC team??
These rankings are usually on wins and losses and if you are playing in a weak conference and play weaker out of conference then how good are you? Look at Ohio State a few years ago # 1 in the nation undefeated and lost to Florida who had been beaten by another SEC Team. The next year Ohio St # 1 and lost to LSU I think a team with 3 losses in the SEC.
We are never going to have a True #1 team until we allow them to play it out on the field. Would TCU, Boise St, or Cinn, be undefeated if they played in the SEC or the Big 12? Or if each of them played one Big 12 school and 1 SEC school out of their conference would they be undefeated??? But yet these teams are ranked ahead of LSU, Ole Miss, Tn., Ark.,
I would love to see some of these games, I don’t think the BCS is working at all
Steve Kragthorpe fired as Louisville football coach

Its a sad day here in Catland. We Kentucky fans feel that Coach Kragthorpe was fowlly treated by Tom Juric and the administration.
I mean Tom how can a man be expected to win games when the fans only fill a third of the newly enlarged stadium for a game. And Tom I mean come on now every one knows that a little sister is supposed to loose to a big brother.
Why fire Coach Krag he was a leader by example, the kind of a guy who would never embarrass the school by having late eytalian dinners. No all he ever did was lose so which is worse Tom.
He couldn’t help it that the offense was so bad that it was only out stunk by the defense Tom. Some years are just that way.
We here in Catland which if you haven’t noticed Tom includes Louisville are really concerned that you have made a mistake. No longer will we get to watch our little sister try to date a bowl team or try out for the ACC. Instead we will have to watch little sister trying to get another coach come in and help put makeup on her fading football program. Tom, Charlie Weiss might soon be available and he does wonders for a girls image.
Coach Kraq you will be sadly missed by us here in Catland. Thanks for the happy memories.

Right now either of 4 teams could make the case for #1 Fl, Texas, Bama, or Oregon. With Oregon being the only team with a loss that would reduce their chances. This could be the perfect year for a play-off.
In my opinion Florida has the easier schedule for the remainder of the season, Texas right behind Fla. Bama still has to play LSU and Auburn. The remainder of this season will be interesting.
I am sure that with Oregon getting the win over USC several of the voters are heartbroken.
