UK STAGGERS TO 3RD STRAIGHT LOSE IN SEC PLAY – 66-57

The road may be kind or unkind in college basketball, but the UK Wildcats have to be looking to get their “Mojo” back, in what is the toughest venue to do it; that being the road in the SEC. The Wildcats lost their third in a row and 2nd straight at home to Miss St.
Indeed, UK looked like a team waiting for the game to be over, not even scoring a point until “a few ticks” before the 14:00 minute mark of the first half…
Ramon Harris, who was ineffective early on, gave way to Darius Miller who scored our first 2 points of the game at around the 14:00 minute mark….He followed that up, with two more for our first 4 points of the game and took “player of the half awards just for that, since UK looked like a team who needed a FRESHMAN to take over, trailing at the half by 13 points.
A point well taken might be that UK has a “Karma” problem. We’ve seen those before, right? The previous administration had them…the one before that did; WHY CAN’T WE? That is just speculation, I’ll admit, yet this performance was much more lacklustre than the last, which should have resulted in victory by our accounts, a free throw here, or a decent call there in the first half (I counted 3 terrible ones against UK). That’s BASKETBALL, and that’s why we are here.
A huge story coming out of the game, that I first read on KSR is: “… the TCP report that Patrick Patterson stated after the game that the locker room was a “verbal free-for-all” following the contest. According to the TCP report, Patterson said that all the players let each other have it after the game and the coaches stood by and allowed all grievances to be aired out. There is no word on what was said, but it is clear that the frustration that was felt by the fans was also felt by the players as well. I am also told that there was a similar incident that occurred earlier in the day at practice, with some verbal airing of feelings by a few members of the team prior to the game. It is thus clear that tensions are high around the program and the future is a bit unclear. This could be the moment when things reunite and turn for the better, or it could disintegrate and go the other way. With a seven day wait, we have a long time to see for certain.”
Indeed, after cutting a 13 point halftime deficit to only 3 points, at the 14 minute mark….of the second half, UK could do no better AND Miss St. went on a tear of sorts throwing down 3’s from imaginary 30ft lines…! Now, we know we get the “A” game from everyone that comes in, but some of those shots were spectacular! Not to mention very hard to defend. A team of jump shooters who are hitting are always dangerous, and this group took us out with a shooting display reminiscence of the “Crispin Bros”, from another era…
Now, it’s time for the road, and it’s time to forget about all those fans boring in on you, screaming for the VICTORY, and expecting a UK rout of everyone that steps into our edifice…
It’s time for 54 more JODIE…!

Jody, I had you leading the SEC in scoring this year, but who could know… YOU would be this good….II mean…, we knew you had great touch on…,- ThE ShOt – , from YoUr freshman campaign, and…. the free throw streak you had then, 32 was it?…But kid, you are special…Stuck with a “Kyle Macy/Kevin Grevey- type shooting touch”, – AND…. you have the body frame to “GeT YoUrS”, AND will be a a great PRO player, because of that shooting touch, speed, work ethic, athleticism…A “D Wade” type player I think. Notice I said “type”…D Wade is D Wade, and Jodie will be Jodie…
AND
JODIE HAS BROKEN DAN ISSEL’S ALL TIME HIGH WATER MARK FOR SINGLE GAME SCORING…!
OH, I was there when you put your numbers up Dan, you know that. I was there in my mind, as a kid, when you averaged the 32ppg. I listened to ever game on the radio with Cawood bringing it to LiFe for me….Thanks for the Memories Dan Issel….
Thanks for the New Memories, Jodie Meeks … You have just stepped up, grabbed one of the two most coveted awards in College Basketball namely the leading Single Game Scorer in UK Basketball History…!
It’s been great holding you here in my memory for all these years, as the greatest single game scorer in Kentucky history, but there is a new kid on the block, and he’s really good….Great guy too, really a worker.
Dan, now you can gracefully move to the second spot, and retain your 32ppg scoring average, which I do not think will be broken in this era…
Jodie got 54…..
Jodie will probably back up to the bank this year, if he hits the NCAA Tourney on a roll like DeWayne Wade did. Meeks reminds me more of an old schooler by the name of, Oscar, “THE BIG O” Robertson. That’s a tall comparison, since “Big O” is in the Hall of Fame, and led college basketball in scoring one year, but he really has a similar type game with his beautiful shooting touch…
Anyway, Dan, now you can gracefully move to the second spot, and retain your 32ppg scoring average, which I do not think will be broken in this era…
