From WKYT. Police are investigating the death of former UK basketball star Melvin Turpin. The coroner says all indications are that it was suicide.
A close family friend found Turpin’s body in his Lexington home on Princess Arch Lane. His wife was not at the home due to treatment for a medical condition. Neighbors say Turpin will be greatly missed. They say he was always friendly to everyone and was a pillar in the community.
Melvin Harrison “Mel” Turpin was a 6’11″ center who attended the University of Kentucky for four seasons before being drafted as the sixth overall pick in the first round by the Washington Bullets in 1984.
He was a dominant center in college, but as a professional he struggled. After five seasons with the Cavaliers, Utah Jazz and the Washington Bullets, he retired.

So far there isn’t much more being said other than that its suicide. I know that it was said that his wife wasn’t home because of medical treatment. I hope her medical problems isn’t what caused this. Get well soon Mrs Turpin the whole BBN is behind you.
Still More:
His sister said he was having problems keeping his diabetes under control. As a insulin dependent diabetic I can totally understand what happened now. Your moods can get so mercurial that it can be very difficult to keep things in perspective. To low and you pass out. To high and you have a hard time keeping yourself under control and thinking straight.
